About Plymouth Christian Centre

Plymouth Christian Centre exists to love and to serve the people of Plymouth and beyond, enabling them to become wholehearted followers of Christ.

We are part of the Christian denomination Elim, a group of Pentecostal churches, founded on the concept of the ‘The Foursquare Gospel’ - Jesus is the Saviour, the Healer, the Baptiser in the Holy Spirit and the Coming King.

Plymouth Christian Centre is a large, vibrant and welcoming church in the centre of Plymouth. We are an all-aged church with many groups and services for children, youth and adults. We aim to be a church that builds community amongst its members whilst reaching out to the people around us - both locally and beyond.

Our History

Plymouth Christian Centre was founded in 1924 as the Elim Four Square Gospel Church. The church first met in a building on Rendle Street, which was later destroyed in the Plymouth Blitz. Over the coming months and years, the congregation moved to various sites, such as Goodbody’s Cafe, Stonehouse Town Hall and the Barbican Revival in Notte Street. The move to our current location on Embankment Road happened over 25 years ago, in 1983.

Our Leadership

The church is led by a team of Elders, who help support our two Pastors. Pastor David Beresford, currently the Pastoral Care Minister, was the senior Pastor of Plymouth Christian Centre for over 10 years, before handing the role over to Geoff Lee, who has been the Senior Pastor of the church since 2009, and on staff since 2000.

Our Future
Over the last few years we have been focusing on three R's: Reaching Out in Mission, Refocusing the Ministry and Restoring the Meeting Place. We are in fact about to start the second phase of Restoring our Meeting Place, which will involve us meeting elsewhere on a Sunday for a few months, find out more here >
